Summoning of Membership
in International Society of Oral &
Maxillofacial Surgeons and Society
of American Oral & Maxillofacial
Surgeons
Dear Colleague;
This is to notify that in the
meeting with the president of
American Association of Oral and
Maxillofacial Surgeons on 12,
October 2007 in Honolulu, it was
agreed that American Oral and
Maxillofacial Surgeons will place
the announcement of 4th
International Congress of Iranian
Association of Oral & Maxillofacial
Surgeons, on their media
advertisements.
It was also concluded that Iranian
Oral & Maxillofacial Surgeon
individuals can be affiliate members
of American Association of Oral and
Maxillofacial Surgeons upon their
tendency. In this case they can
benefit from extra advantages such
as receiving AAOMS monthly journal,
etc.
Holding the license of membership in
Iranian Association of Oral and
Maxillofacial Surgeons is the sole
proviso and is applicable for all
members, without having passed the
board exam.Granting this license,
depends on paying 1 million Iranian
Rials to Iranian Association of Oral
and Maxillofacial Surgeons bank
account. Mentioning that the annul
subscription fee for AAOMS and JOS
is 403$ and is payable by the means
of the Association.
Your membership will doubtlessly
improve the quality of our
profession.
In addition, according to
arrangements made with International
Society of Oral & Maxillofacial
Surgeons, you can be a member of the
association by paying an annual fee
of 1 million Rials, and also receive
12 free volumes of scientific
journal of the association.
Enrolling in the mentioned
communities is limited just to the
members of the association.

Annual Activity Report
of Iranian Association of Oral &
Maxillofacial Surgeons’ Board of
Directors
Dear Colleagues;
I considered it necessary to keep
you posted about last year’s
modifications and executed tasks and
utilize your criticisms and
recommendations for the second year.
In last November, 3rd International
Congress of the association was held
successfully with Dr.Abolhasan
Mesgarzadeh’s great endeavor and
aid.
Not on a basis of a quick
evaluation, contents of the 3rd
congress were good, particularly
with the presentations of prominent
lecturers such as Dr.Pazouki,
Dr.Paydar; Dr.Najmi.We also availed
of excellent domestic lecturers.
Nevertheless this congress was
opposed by some other colleagues of
another association in latter days,
by the grace of God; it was
implemented perfectly at any rate.
Considering this objection, I need
to say, attendance of not all of the
colleagues (30% - 40% were absent),
is of more importance.
Regarding to issues like the
location, serving and the
auditorium, the Congress was
triumphant.
After accomplishing the congress,
you were certainly informed about
resuming the tensions, especially
irresponsible declarations of the
current president of Iranian
Association of Plastic and
Restorative Surgeons, on mass media.
Also Iranian Medical Council and
Community of Surgeons voiced their
opinions, however the position of
investigating the issue, was upon
the Ministry of Health and Medical
Education. Anyhow by collecting
official documents and legal papers,
board of directors with
participating in Iranian Medical
Council ,Society of Iranian Surgeons
and Islamic Republic of Iran
Broadcasting Organization, and a
great self-defense in the house of
Health ministry and with the help of
Council Secretary of Dental
Education and Specialty respectable
authorities, and intervention of the
Article 90 Commission, the dispute
did not leaked out to media, and was
stated that Ministry of Health and
Medical Education is the exclusive
authority for implementation of
Ministry’s curriculum ratified in
1379.
Luckily, in the recent contact with
the new board of directors Of
Iranian Association of Plastic and
Restorative Surgeons, both sides
reached a bilateral settlement,
expressing that they are displeased
about the recent occurrences and
agendas, signifying their policy far
cry from quarrelling which is
hazardous for medicine-related
professions. We consumed nearly 80%
of our energy on this issue,
however. On the contrary we could
have spent this much power on
arranging the association,
purchasing a site for the
association and holding educational
congresses and seminars and programs
as well. Despite of these obstacles,
the resolution of conducting the 4th
International Congress was passed.
By my own and some colleagues of
mine’s international trips to
International Congresses in Antalia,
Hawaii and India in this year, we
managed to contact some renowned
lecturers from USA, Canada,
Switzerland , Belgium, Germany ,
England, Japan, South Korea,
Thailand, Hong Kong, Turkey ,Egypt
,India ,Pakistan ,Iraq and Jordan
tending to take part in this
congress.
We desire that by your helpful
efforts, this congress, by
containing various Oral and
Maxillofacial Surgery programs in a
wide range (which are going to be in
English at the main amphitheater and
in Farsi at other sections),
hopefully would guide us for having
a brand-new attitude towards our
occupation.
Simultaneously, at other halls,
Implant Seminar will be performed
for our GP colleagues. Of course
with Q&A panels and live surgeries,
it will be more efficient.
There has also been planned other
instructive workshops and poster
presentations, at smaller halls.
The junction of the exhibition to
the main hall is scheduled to help
you be more familiar with industrial
and technological growth, and it’s
supposed to be an innovative
approach.
In this congress beside Oral and
Maxillofacial surgeons, ENT
specialists, plastic surgeons, and
all dental and medical General
Practitioners will take advantage of
the event.
Design of the congress
internationally and with a
remarkable extent, is a rare work.
Leisure activities such as Tehran
,Esfahan and Shiraz tours and a
quiet location , away from city’s
uproar , neighboring the lake of
Azadi Sport Complex, offers a
relaxing atmosphere for both Iranian
and foreign participants.
We will be genuinely delighted if
you aid us by enrolling, presenting
articles and other collaborations in
this congress, and consequently
continuation of our activities.
The score gained by attending this
congress is estimated minimum 11.5
points.
